This depends on the device. You can get a brand new phone with no deposit, but most of our newer devices have a minimum £30 upfront cost.

Once the contract term is up, you will have fully paid for and now own the handset. After that, you’ll just be paying for the Airtime.
If you’re still happy with your current phone, you can keep your handset and continue paying for the Airtime. You can also choose a different airtime plan with a new Pay Monthly SIM.
Alternatively, you can upgrade to a new handset through My O2 once your contract ends. Additionally, you can visit O2 Recycle to sell your old device when you upgrade.

The typical length of a pay monthly phone contracts are usually 12 months, 24 months, or 36 months. At O2, you can customise your plan to make it anywhere from 3 months to up to 36 months.
Yes, you do. Just like applying for other types of credit such as a credit card or loan, you’ll need to pass a credit check before getting a contract with us.
